Ana was born in St. James Palace in London on 6 February 1665, being the second quarter-but-surviving daughter of 8 children of James, Duke of York, future James II of England and Anne Hyde .
Ana and her older sister, Maria was the only child of the Duke and Duchess of York to reach adulthood. Ana suffered an eye infection nina, for medical treatment, was sent to France. There he lived with his grandmother, Enriqueta Maria de France, and she's going to die to live with her aunt, Ana Enriqueta, Duchess of Orleans. forbes Ana returned from France in 1670. Around 1672, his father's conversion to Roman Catholicism was published. However, according to the orders of King Charles II, Ana Maria and her sister were educated as strict Protestants.
